Mobile car diagnostics in Oldbury & Birmingham

A warning light tells you something needs attention, but not necessarily which part to replace. NR Mobile Autocare can visit your vehicle to investigate faults and explain the findings.

When a diagnostic visit makes sense

An engine management light, difficult starting, uneven running or intermittent electrical problem can have several causes. Reading fault codes is one part of the investigation, not a complete diagnosis on its own.

Let us know what changed, when it happens and whether the car is still driveable. If you are unsure the vehicle is safe, do not drive it to test the fault.

What can be checked

  • Stored fault codes and relevant live vehicle data where supported.
  • Warning lights and reported engine or electrical symptoms.
  • Starting and charging concerns that may need further testing.
  • The next sensible checks or repairs suggested by the findings.

At your vehicle, not in a waiting room

A suitable parking space at home or work can make a diagnostic visit simpler. The checks possible depend on the vehicle and the fault. Some issues need more investigation after the initial scan; we will explain what has and has not been confirmed.

Visits are available by enquiry around Oldbury, Birmingham, West Bromwich, Smethwick, Halesowen and Dudley. Share your postcode and registration to check availability.

A scan is a starting point, not a parts list

An OBD diagnostic scan can report faults stored by systems the vehicle makes available. It may give a direction for further checks, but the same code can be associated with more than one underlying cause. A low-voltage condition, a connector problem or another fault can sometimes affect what the car reports. Replacing whichever part appears in a code description without investigating the context can leave the original problem unresolved.

The useful questions are whether the fault is currently present, when it occurs and what other evidence supports it. Depending on the vehicle and issue, further observation or testing may be needed before anyone can sensibly recommend a repair.

Help us understand the pattern

  • Does the engine management light stay on, flash or appear only occasionally?
  • Does the car struggle to start when cold, after a journey or at any time?
  • Are there changes in power, idle, fuel use or electrical behaviour?
  • Have any repairs or battery work been carried out recently?
  • Can you share a clear photo of the warning message or dashboard display?

After the initial inspection

A diagnostic visit may identify an issue that can be addressed on site, or it may narrow down the next test required. Some intermittent problems do not present themselves during a single visit. We will distinguish between a code recorded by the car, an observation made at the vehicle and a cause that has actually been confirmed.

If you have already been given fault codes, send them with the registration and symptoms. We can use them as context, but an old code alone is not enough to commit to a replacement. Ask what the findings mean for driving the vehicle and whether a further investigation is needed before repair work is planned.

Frequently asked questions

Will a fault code tell me exactly what to replace?

Not always. A code identifies a system or condition, but testing may be needed to find the underlying cause.

Can you look at a car that will not start?

Tell us what happens when you turn the key or press start, and whether any lights appear. We can discuss suitable first checks at the vehicle.

Can you diagnose a warning light at my workplace?

Potentially, if access and the parking location are suitable. Send the vehicle details and workplace postcode.
